Jeffery L. Ross Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The Jeffery L. Ross Memorial Scholarship was established by Mr. Charles and Mrs. Thelma Ross. Charles “Charlie” Ross of Front Royal, Virginia, died on April 23, 2013 at the age of 90. He was predeceased by his wife Thelma and his son Jeffery. Mr. Ross was a retired computer technician and a veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theatre and in the Battle of the Bulge. He named the College as the beneficiary of his estate, to establish an endowed scholarship in memory of his son Jeffery. Mr. Ross wanted the scholarship to “assist deserving students, as determined on the basis of financial need, character and scholastic performance.”

The amount of the scholarship is $2,000 and may be applied toward tuition, fees, and/or books. The award will be divided equally between the fall and spring semesters. To be eligible to receive the award for the spring semester, you must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the fall semester.

The scholarship will be awarded to students who meet the following criteria:

  • Must complete a scholarship application
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must reside in the College service region (City of Winchester or the counties of Clarke, Fauquier, Frederick, Page, Rappahannock, Shenandoah, and Warren)
  • Priority is given to students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
