Grisdale Family Veterans Endowed Fund

This scholarship was established in 2014 by LTC’s Ann and Ernie Grisdale on behalf of their family to honor veterans who have served their country through military service. Following a 20 year Army career, Ernie, a veteran of Viet Nam, served as a professor of chemistry for at the College for 30 years. Ann Grisdale served 29 years in the Army, 14 years of active duty and 15 years in the Army Reserve.

The four Grisdale children have been strong supporters of military service, continuing the 50 consecutive years of service in the Army, with 3 serving in the Army, including tours in Kosovo and the Sinai, and with combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Ernie and Ann believe that education and educational opportunities are essential for our Nation’s future and would like to insure those who have sacrificed so much in order for all Americans to have an opportunity to enjoy the benefits of this great nation, have an opportunity to further their education.

In honor of veterans, the Grisdale family established this endowed fund to honor Veteran students, currently enrolled in a science class: chemistry, biology, physics or geology.

A minimum of $50 will be available to the first 18 students applying for funding up to limits available. Additional funds may be awarded should funding become available.

Funds will be awarded to an student meeting the following criteria:

  • Must be a current Laurel Ridge student
  • Veteran, Active Reservist or Guardsmen – The Laurel Ridge Veteran Services department to verify
  • Currently enrolled in a science class in chemistry, biology, physics or geology
