Reeves Endowment for Health Care Professionals Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2014 by Dr. Douglas Reeves in honor of his brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Katy Reeves. Katy Reeves is Vice President of Human Resources for Fauquier Health System in Warrenton and was a Board member for the Educational Foundation. Having earned a degree in secondary education from the University of Kansas, Katy taught at the secondary and community college level for six years before entering the Human Resources profession.
Steve Reeves is a retired U.S. Army Major General. During the last decade of his career he was responsible for the research, development and acquisition of medical countermeasures and medical devices for chemical and biological defense and emerging infectious diseases.
Steve and Katy believe that education and educational opportunities are critical to enable every individual to reach their full potential with the skills necessary for competing in a global economy. In the dynamic health care field, education must teach not only what to think, but how to think and provide a basis for continuous lifelong learning. Education provides the foundation for both individual growth as well as national economic growth and security.
In honor of Steve and Katy, Dr. Douglas Reeves established this scholarship to create an opportunity for a student in the Fauquier Region to pursue education in a field relating to health care.
