Richard G. Dick Memorial Endowed Scholarship

This endowed scholarship was established in December 2019 by Donna Combs Dick in loving memory of her husband Richard G. Dick. A 1952 graduate of James Wood High School, Mr. Dick was a lifelong resident of Frederick County. He was involved in many civic organizations and local and state government, including serving as Chairman of the Frederick County Board of Supervisors and the Frederick County Economic Development Commission. He was a strong and enthusiastic supporter of community colleges, and served as chairman of the Educational Foundation, and as a member of the State Board for Virginia Community Colleges.

The scholarship award may be applied toward tuition, fees, and/or books and will be divided equally between two semesters. Satisfactory academic progress must be maintained in order for the recipient to receive the award for the second semester. To be eligible to receive the award for the spring semester, you must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.7 in the fall semester.

The scholarship will be awarded to students who meet the following criteria:

  • Complete the scholarship application and the federal aid application (FAFSA)
  • Be enrolled as a full- or part-time student
  • Be a resident of Frederick County
  • Preference given to a student who demonstrates financial need
