Opportunity for Future Success Grant

The Opportunity for Future Success Grant(s) were established in 2019 by two retired educators dedicated to students at Mountain View High School. The donors wish to give deserving students from Mountain View High School the opportunity to earn a degree from Laurel Ridge Community College – particularly students who might not believe they can afford college.

The scholarship award may be applied toward tuition, fees, and/or books and will be divided equally between two semesters. Satisfactory academic progress must be maintained in order for the recipient to receive the award for the second semester. To be eligible to receive the award for the spring semester, you must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.7 in the fall semester.

The following criteria must be met to be eligible:

  • Complete the scholarship application and the federal aid application (FAFSA)
  • Be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student
  • Be a member of the most recent graduating class of Mountain View High School with a minimum GPA of 2.7
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the financial aid office
  • Has obtained 30-credit hours towards completing degree and graduating in Spring 2025
Preference given to:
  • A student who successfully completed at least one college course through the high school dual-enrollment program
  • First generation students

The scholarship may be renewable for a second academic year
