Dillender Family Endowed Scholarship

The Dillender Family Endowed Scholarship was established in September 2017 by Sam and Holly Dillender to honor Sam’s father, who passed away on July 12, 2016 at the age of 85. Among the values that Dillender, Sr. held dear were his faith, his community, his family, and the importance of education. An endowed scholarship in his name will help many students in our community achieve their goal of a college degree.

After serving in the Korean War, Dillender earned a degree in accounting from the University of Georgia in 1955. He retired from Piedmont Airlines in 1989 and was an active member of Highland Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem for 50 years. He volunteered with the local hospital for 23 years and also delivered food with Meals on Wheels.
