Engineering Innovation Scholarship Fund

Weissberg Foundation created the Engineering Innovation Scholarship in 2015 to encourage students in developing innovative approaches to engineering. This scholarship will provide assistance up to $3,000 for tuition, fees and books to the student who is pursuing the Associate of Science Degree, Engineering Specialization.

The scholarship will be divided equally between the fall and spring semesters. To be eligible to receive the award for the spring semester, the student must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the fall semester. The applicant must be enrolled at LFCC as a full-time student and must have completed 24 credit hours of training toward the Associate’s degree to be considered. The student must complete an essay of 500 words or less on the topic of “Why I want to be an engineer and what my plans include”.

In addition to the $3,000 scholarship, the successful student may apply for the $500 innovation project stipend. To receive the stipend, the student must complete an essay of 500 words or less on the topic of “My proposal for an innovative engineering project”. If approved, the student will receive $500 to be used to compensate their time as well as cover out-of-pocket expenses involved in carrying out the project. The student will work with the faculty advisor on a project that will incorporate engineering principles and could be of community benefit. Upon completion of the project, the student must submit a one page summary report to the donor to convey what was accomplished or learned as a result of the project.
