Wayne and Arlene L. Maul Carbaugh Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Carbaugh Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by Wayne Carbaugh in loving memory of his wife, Arlene, who passed away on March 28, 2014. Wayne Carbaugh passed away just a few months later, on September 19, 2014.
All their lives, Wayne and Arlene were servants of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Arlene played the piano, viola, hand bells, and organ with a deep love for church and classical music. Wayne loved to sing and sang in the Barbershop Harmony Society.

Wayne graduated from James Wood High School in 1966, Shenandoah University in 1968 and graduated from James Madison University in 1970. He was the most outstanding offensive lineman on the James Wood football team in 1966, a team which won 19 games in a row. He continued to play football at Shenandoah and James Madison. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Carbaugh worked for Farm Credit, Abex and Harry Byrd, III orchards. He worked in the Business Office of Lord Fairfax Community College (now Laurel Ridge Community College) at the time of his death.

Arlene graduated from John Handley High School in 1966 and subsequently graduated from Monroe Business College. She was a trust officer with Commercial and Savings, First Union, and Wachovia Bank for thirty-three years, retiring in 2001. In her “retirement,” she worked as a receptionist for The Willows at Meadow Branch for ten years.
